| Quote: | X FACTOR singing sensation Lucie Jones is being lined up to star with Hollywood heavyweight Michael Sheen in new movie Submarine. The Bridgend teenager has been to London to try out for a role in the film, which is based on a novel by Swansea writer Joe Dunthorne. The film will also star acclaimed English actor Paddy Considine. It is to be directed by Richard Ayoade, of cult comedies The Mighty Boosh and The IT Crowd. Lucie’s agent, Leigh-Ann Regan, said: “She went for a film meeting with a casting director to play opposite Michael Sheen in a new movie coming here. She has been in for that and we are just waiting to find out now. They really like her.” Lucie has had a screen test for the part. Leigh-Ann, 35, from Cardiff, said: “It is a lead role opposite the lead boy. Her role is one of the main characters, so we have been told.” The story is a coming-of-age tale of 15-year-old Oliver Tate. He is on a quest to win the affections of a school pal while trying to stop his mum leaving his dad for a dance teacher. “We have had so many film scripts, three or four of them, mainly for stuff here,” Leigh-Ann added. West End musicals guru Cameron Mackintosh was hoping to cast the teenager in the role of Eponine in Les Miserables but X Factor commitments have meant Lucie has been unable to audition. He will see her about a role in Oliver! if the competition allows. |
