There’s no doubt, after Lucie’s stirring solo performance at the Hammersmith Apollo, she quickly became a front runner for making it to the judges’ houses. But, as we all know, when it comes to this competition there’s never a sure thing, particularly when Simon ‘voice of doom’ Cowell has something to say.

Luckily for Lucie, the next time she walked on stage it was to receive a big yes and with it a ticket to Dannii Minogue’s pad, but not before Mr. Cowell had said his piece on the Welsh warbler’s shortcomings.
“She can’t do up tempo songs this girl… you can’t do ballads every week, so there’s a problem.”
So, despite the rip-roaring reception from the crowd and the other judges being smitten with the 18-year-old’s rendition of Christina Aguilera’s Hurt, the moody mogul was yet to be convinced.
But did Simon have a point? Would disco week have Lucie running for the valleys? So far we’ve only seen her belt out, albeit with panache, rousing, goosebump-inducing power ballads. We caught up with the lovely lass to see what she had to say on the matter.
“There’s so much more of me they haven’t seen… I’ve got a lot more to give. So far I’ve been doing one kind of song but I can do so much more. I can do anything they throw at me!”
Well that’s us told! Yes, it seems this girl’s not letting her doubters dent her confidence. Instead, she plans to prove herself in the next stage and do all she can to show she’s no one trick pony.
“The standards are so high. I feel so lucky to be in my category,” she continued. “Last year, watching the final, there was no place in the world I’d rather be than on that stage.”
With that kind of attitude we think she has every chance of strutting her stuff at The X Factor live finals, but first she has to get through Dannii\'s house.
